French tour, day 2 – 64km Packing up tents and eating breakfast always seems to take longer than originally planned, but we were away before 8.30. Fuelled by some rice cakes and crusty one day French bread, we were soon flying along down into a small village. Here we bought some newly made baguettes and carried on. French tour 2017 – day 1, 72km Today I was woken up at 5.45, slowly, by a harp being played through the ferry speakers. Even though we only had small beds in the cabin, we all managed to get a good nights sleep. Although when we left Portsmouth the water looked very rough, once out at sea it was all very smooth, with a perfect lull to send us to sleep. Wednesday 2nd August 2017 – 1 km! This summer for my yearly tour, I’m cycling down France with some of my family! Less miles and shorter days than last year’s touring but hopefully just as fun!  On UK trains the bike spaces are always small and normally limited to just 2 bikes.
